Smileawi were delighted to receive a Scottish Government grant which is being used to improve and update Malawian dental therapists knowledge and skills in teaching others to deliver oral health messages to rural communities. We are working in partnership with the Dental Association of Malawi, Bridge2Aid and Prodental CPD to provide an e-learning platform and courses to achieve this aim. Progress has been made despite the pandemic and the worrying second wave in Malawi and here in the UK. 25 tablets have been bought and delivered around the country under the guidance of Dr Martha Chipanda and with the help of Mr Ben Mhango. The course development team here consisting of volunteers from both Smileawi and Bridge2Aid are working tirelessly to write the course and are in constant touch with our Malawian colleagues to ensure its relevance to our intended audience. With our tight deadlines to report to the SG we are hoping that the first modules will be ready for uploading really soon and are looking forward to the challenges ahead.
